Who we are

First of all, we are grateful to live and find our home in Czech. The Wesleyan Church’s vision in Czech, Europe, and around the world, is „transforming lives, churches, and communities through the hope and holiness of Jesus Christ.“ We are a protestant denomination that traces its roots to John and Charles Wesley and the early Methodist movement.

The Wesleyan Church started in Brno with a non-profit organization, called Maják, with the desire to work with other believers and churches, meet new people, share the Gospel, read the Bible with others, and see churches planted.

The Wesleyan’s strive to work with others in our communities and support what God is already doing in Czech. We also continue to scatter Gospel seeds wherever we live and serve. In Brno, we have a number of activities—English classes for all ages, a summer English camp we’ve been leading for 30 years, and a center that is accessible and useable for our community in Lesná.

We work alongside and support other organizations and churches when possible, but specifically we are connected as Wesleyans to two churches, Remedy Church in Poděbrady, and Brno International Christian Fellowship that meets in Brno at Maják, Dusíkova 5.

About Wesleyan church

The Wesleyan Church has had some presence in Czech since the mid 90s, although, John Wesley met the Moravians on a ship crossing the Atlantic in the 1700s and was touched by their personal and passionate faith in Jesus Christ. John also recorded in his journal that his heart was “strangely warmed” when he heard a Moravian preacher share from the book of Romans.

The Wesleyan’s have a connection to Czech and this area of Europe that goes way back, and even to the early reformer, Jan Hus, who was strong in his conviction to follow faithfully Jesus Christ even to his death.

Jesus modeled being with the people, and by His example and His words he loved others and always pointed to God, His Father, as the source of His message. The Wesleyan Church is a church that is out and among, caring for others, spending time with others, inviting others into a community that loves like Jesus and points to His sacrifice on the cross for salvation, and His resurrection for the power to follow Him with your whole-heart!
